Start of one of the races. The Lotus 7 and 356s were fast, but not
the fastest. |
Big bore sports cars coming up the hill to the pits. |
Almost to the top of the hill at the pits. The hot pits were set up
on a wide parking spot on the road. |
Still racing TDs in 1966 too. |
Plymouth Barracuda. |
The winning Lotus Cortina. |
Not much protection for the spectators either. |
From the pits. |
Here you can see the poles lining the track. |
From the pits. |
The Alfa is almost airborne over the hill. |
Looking from the pits to the track. Even the culvert was not
protected. |
The winner - Lotus Cortina. |
Courses like this were unforgiving. The roads were lined with short
poles onto which organizers just tied haybales. If you made a
mistake, it was nasty. |
Formula Vs past the pits. Note the haybale leaning on the light pole
on the other side of the track. |
